President Recip Tayyip Erdogan has won a new term in office as Turkey’s leader. 

Millions of voters went to the polls in Turkey on Sunday in major presidential and parliamentary elections.

President Erdogan won re-election after a hard-fought, competitive electoral contest. He won more than 50 percent of the vote and will now take on new executive powers in a revamped presidency.

Erdogan’s AK party and its alliance partners have also won a parliamentary majority in legislative elections.
