There are heaps of trash on the beaches of Honduras. And it’s Guatemala’s garbage – most of it plastic.

The disposal of trash, particularly plastics, has been an issue in Latin America for decades. But in Central America’s Northern Triangle, it has become a matter of tension between Guatemala and Honduras.

With the rainy season underway in Central America, there is concern that more trash will pile up on Honduran beaches, aggravating what has already become a big problem.
