Why some people are picking “slow fashion” when they shop

More and more people are shopping for clothes at environmentally-friendly stores such as vintage clothing shops.

It’s part of the “slow fashion” revolution, store owners said, and it’s in response to environmental and labor concerns associated with “fast fashion” stores that churn out thousands of pieces of cheap clothing by the minute.

The movement was further solidified following the 2013 building collapse in Bangladesh that killed 1,138 workers, many of whom were garment workers for factories supplying fast fashion companies.

CGTN’s Xianghan Wang interviewed Washington D.C. vintage store managers Ambrose Nzams from Joint Custody and Alexa Johnson from Ella-Rue for more on the growth in ethical vintage.
