Retired Russian general: ‘There’s anti-Russia hysteria in US’

World Today

One of Russia’s former top military generals Evgeny Buzhinsky spoke to CGTN to express his concern about the likely collapse of a treaty that has helped sustain world peace.

The Open Skies Treaty allows the U.S. and Russia to survey each other’s military forces from the skies. It’s a post-Soviet agreement that has built trust and peace among the world’s powers.

But President Donald Trump has signed an act which suspends funding for the treaty, and the Kremlin has accused the United States of moving towards a world ‘in which the U.S. dominates by force’.

CGTN’s Dan Ashby spoke to Buzhinsky, a retired lieutenant-general of the Russian Army, and the current Vice President of the Russian International Affairs Council.
