An exclusive sit-down with Bolivia’s Evo Morales

Americas Now

Evo Morales has been the President of Bolivia since 2006. He is the country’s first indigenous president and a former farmer. Those qualities have helped him cultivate a strong bond with Bolivia’s native population. During his time in office he has presided over a growing economy, reduced the poverty rate and supplied indigenous communities with access to electricity and running water.

“Americas Now” anchor, Elaine Reyes, sat down for a second time with President Morales during the 73rd edition of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The topics discussed include President Morales’ stand on Venezuela and Bolivia’s strengthening partnership with China.
