Mayan bags help reduce plastic pollution in Guatemala

The mayor of a town in Guatemala has ordered a ban on single-use plastics.

Any store or business owner caught packaging with plastics can be fined up to $650.

Almost half of the plastic that is manufactured is intended to be discarded after being used just once.

As a result of the ban, some inventive Guatemalans are using bags made of Mayan fabric to replace plastic. Take a look.
