Jeff Sessions returns to his home in Washington, Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2018. Sessions was pushed out Wednesday as Attorney General after enduring more than a year of blistering and personal attacks from President Donald Trump over his recusal from the Russia investigation. “But what I’m proud of is not a title or a job. What I’m proud of is this Department—the 115,000 people who work together to pursue our goals. What I’m proud of is you,” Sessions wrote in the email message to DOJ staff.

“When I took office as Attorney General I stated our goals are to reduce violent crime, reduce homicides, reduce opioid prescriptions, and to reduce overdose deaths. There are signs that we are already achieving all four of these goals,” he wrote.
