Armistice Day on Nov. 11, 2018 marked 100 years since World War I ended. While Washington D.C. is full of monuments to U.S. wars, so far there’s been no national monument for World War I. Organizers at the World War One Centennial Commission hope to change that with a planned monument in Pershing Park in downtown D.C. The memorial is expected to open in 2021.
