The Heat: US immigration policies

The Heat

U.S.-Mexico border wall

For weeks now, thousands of Central American migrants have been arriving at the Mexican border city of Tijuana in hopes of reaching the United States.

The migrants, from Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador, said they’re fleeing the threat of violence at home and seeking a better life.

On Sunday, a peaceful protest turned violent when U.S. border agents used tear gas and rubber bullets to stop a group, including women and children, from illegally crossing the border.

CGTN’s Alasdair Baverstock reports from Tijuana.
