It’s been a challenging year for relations between China and the United States.

In July, U.S. President Donald Trump carried out his threat to impose tariffs on China for alleged unfair trade practices.

To date, the United States has issued tariffs on $250 billion worth of Chinese products and China has reciprocated with $110 billion on U.S. goods.

On the sidelines of the G20 Summit, Chinese President Xi Jinping and President Trump agreed to a temporary truce. The U.S. will not increase tariffs for 90-days and China will lower tariffs on American autos and resume buying soybeans.

This week, the two sides spoke by telephone and are planning formal talks for January.
