Heightened security and early morning raids in Egypt where police say they have killed 40 suspected militants. The Egyptian government says the three raids happened in North Sinai and Giza, where terror attacks were being planned.

This comes just a day after a bomb attack on a tour bus in Giza left four people dead.

CGTN’s Adel El-Mahrouky reports.

Despite the highest security alert, and recalling all its police and army personnel to secure the holidays season, terrorism has once again struck Egypt.

A bomb planted on the side of a tourist road, exploded next to a bus carrying 14 Vietnamese tourists and two Egyptians.

Three Vietnamese tourists and an Egyptian tour guide died in the attack.

“Sometimes attacks such as this one can occur, it may even happen again in the future, and there isn’t a country in the world where we can say is 100-percent safe,” said Mostafa Madbouly, the Prime Minister of Egypt. “We are trying to contain the impact of this incident as much as possible, but the most important thing is to provide medical care to all those who were injured.”

Egyptian officials and the Vietnamese ambassador to Cairo rushed to the hospital to follow-up on the injured conditions.

Since 2015’s Russian Plane crash in Sharm EL Sheikh, Egypt has been struggling to regain global trust as a safe destination.

With the tourism sector growing by more than 50-percent, 2018 has been a great year. But the attack may ruin all the progress made this year.
