The chairman of Huawei called on the United States, Australia and other governments to provide evidence to back up claims the Chinese tech giant is a security risk as it launched a public relations effort to defuse fears that threaten its role in next-generation communications. China is following closely the detention of Wang Weijing by Poland’s Internal Security Agency, according to Chinese Foreign Ministry’s statement.

The Chinese Embassy in Poland met with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the earliest opportunity, requesting the Polish side to brief them on the case and arrange consular visits as soon as possible. China asked Poland to handle the case lawfully, fairly and properly to effectively guarantee the legitimate rights of the person, his safety and his humanitarian treatment.
