China-DPRK relations

Kim Jong-Un’s visit to China marks the fourth time the leader of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea has traveled to Beijing in the past ten months.

Chinese President Xi Jinping and First Lady Peng Liyuan welcomed Kim and his wife in Beijing on Tuesday.

The two leaders discussed China-DPRK relations and agreed to advance efforts on the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula. Kim’s visit comes days after he expressed frustration with Washington over the lack of progress in negotiations since the Singapore Summit with U.S. President Donald Trump.  U.S. and DPRK officials are reportedly discussing a possible second summit.
