Venezuela migration crisis leaves ghost towns behind

Almost one-tenth of Venezuela’s population has fled the country’s economic crisis. Real estate groups said the Caracas rental market is operating at 5 percent of its potential, some said cities across the country are on the verge of becoming ghost towns.

CGTN’s Stephen Gibbs reports.

Every month, Caracas resident Veronica Malave checks on her cousins’ apartment. They have all have emigrated. Malave preserves everything just as it once was.

She said that is what family is for. But how does she feel, seeing what was once a lively home, so empty? That overwhelming pain of separation, shared by so many Venezuelans.
