Venezuela Crisis

Venezuela’s president, Nicolás Maduro is facing challenges on multiple fronts, including massive anti-government demonstrations, the defection of a top general and a growing list of countries calling for new elections or for him to step aside.

Juan Guaidó, who heads the opposition-controlled National Assembly, has won the backing of the United States and a host of other nations since declaring Maduro “illegitimate” and himself interim president.
