Although a symbolic vote – the prime minister warned that Thursday’s “no” vote could damage her position with the European Union.

The EU has repeatedly told May there will be no further negotiations.

The opposition claims her tactic is to force a ‘yes’ vote on her Brexit strategy before the divorce deadline – or face no deal at all.

The U.K. is scheduled to leave the EU on March 29.
