Hanoi pub offers "Rock it, man" cocktails ahead of summit

What do you get when you mix a forceful U.S. president with a volatile DPRK leader? Why a “Rock it, Man” cocktail of course!

Robert Gibb and wife, Trinh Xuan Dieu, own the Unicorn Pub in Hanoi’s old quarter where this week you can sip a cocktail named for the leaders of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and the United States of America.

Unicorn Pub owners are proud of Vietnam’s role as host to the second Trump-Kim summit.

It’s a flavorful way to participate in the historic second summit – between Kim Jong Un and Donald Trump and a catchy way for the owners to bring in more business.

Unicorn Pub displays a fake photograph if the leaders behind the bar.

Before their first summit in Singapore, Trump mockingly referred to Kim and his nuclear ambitions as “Rocket Man”.

The couple say the drink attempts to capture the fire and the spice of these feisty leaders while adding a note of the hoped-for sweetness of success.

For patrons who – like Trump – no longer drink, there is a non-alcoholic version of the cocktail.

Asked to predict what Kim might say about the unique concoction, Trinh tells CGTN America, “It tastes like us!”

“It would be a familiar flavor for him I think,” added Gibb.

If you’d like to try your hand at the “Rock it, Man,” here are (most of) the ingredients:
