US college admissions scam reverberates through acting, finance and academia

A scandal over how wealthy parents have been able to – in effect – buy entrance to top universities in the U.S. for their children, has had widespread fallout.

Prosecutors said parents paid a total of $25 million to a college-admissions consultant over seven years, to get their kids accepted to the best schools.
