Profuturo finds a “smart” way to engage kids from Guatemala in the classroom

Americas Now

In the rural highlands of Guatemala education is considered sub-standard. The majority of schools lack basic teaching materials and having any kind of technology in a classroom was long believed to be unthinkable.

More than half of Guatemalans live below the poverty line according to the Global Population Fund.

So, a non-profit organization is enriching the education system by providing classrooms with smart computer tablets.

Our Game Changer on “Americas Now” is Profuturo.

All of the kids we talked to for this report said they would love to spend more time on the smart tablets. And the principal of the school says the number of school dropouts is considerably down.
