Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said his country will stop complying with parts of the 2015 Nuclear Deal, but, according to him, the goal is to spur negotiations, rather than confrontation.
He gave signatory countries a deadline of 60 days to agree on new terms to ease restrictions on the country’s banking and oil sectors, or Iran would resume production of highly-enriched uranium.
This move comes exactly one year after U.S. President Donald Trump unilaterally pulled out of the Iran Nuclear Deal – and as the United States is putting increased economic and military pressure on Tehran.
