An interview with President of Ecuador Lenin Moreno

In 2017, Ecuadorians elected a new President, who was widely expected to continue the policies of his predecessor. Instead Lenin Moreno has forged a path notably different from former ally Rafael Correa.

He was recently in the news for his controversial decision to withdraw the asylum status from Julian Assange. The Wikileaks founder had been living in the country’s London embassy since 2012. Assange now faces possible extradition to the United States.

Correspondent Stephen Gibbs traveled to Ecuador’s presidential palace to sit down with President Moreno – one of Latin America’s more surprising leaders.
