There’s an island off the coast of Chile that was the inspiration for one of the most famous novels in Western literature.

Called “Robinson Crusoe,” it was the story of a shipwrecked castaway who survived on berries, goats and fish for over four years before being rescued.

Today Robinson Crusoe Island is part of a national park and a leader in ocean and wildlife conservation.
