Improving the nutrition of Guatemalan children with goat milk

Americas Now

Guatemala has one of the highest malnutrition rates in the Americas. And the problem has been particularly acute in the country’s highlands.

Nutritional deficiencies can hinder physical and mental development in children. But an organization started a program to help eliminate malnutrition.

Their idea was to provide families with a goat. Our Game Changer is “Save The Children.”

Save the Children advises families to restrain the urge to eat the goat. They say goat meat only lasts for a few days while a living goat can provide milk for years.
