Love Futbol gives at-risk kids in Mexico safe places to play

Cartel violence in Mexico has made outdoor recreation dangerous for children. Theft, drug-dealing and even homicide have become regular occurrences in many of Mexico’s neighborhoods as a result of the nation’s drug war.

Raising kids in that volatile environment can be a challenge. Our Game Changer is someone who is very aware of the social impact a healthy upbringing can have on society. So he created a number of public spaces where kids can safely play.

From the organization “Love Futbol” meet Emilio Andres Martinez.

Turning a public space into a “pitch” or “sports court” can require a substantial amount of labor. It took 120 volunteers to complete one sports space in Mexico City.
