Prisoners receiving therapy in a new rehab program in Colombia

Americas Now

According to Colombian authorities in Bogota, 75 percent of imprisoned youth return to a life of crime once they complete their sentence. It’s a validation that receiving effective rehabilitation can be a challenge.

One program began focusing on these marginalized youth by providing them with psychotherapy. Not only is it helping them resolve serious issues, those who complete the program are less likely to break the law when they re-enter society.

The Colombian government hopes to take the rehabilitation program to other cities in country since it’s been such a success in Bogota.
