The Democratic Republic of Congo is in the grips of a deadly epidemic, Ebola has now reached the city of Goma, a population of some two million people and a major transit hub.

More than 1,700 people have been killed since the outbreak began a year ago. The World Health Organization says it needs more funding to battle the epidemic as health workers confront numerous challenges fighting on the frontlines.
