Social media helped fuel the “Me Too” movement in Mexico

The “Me Too” movement is a female-led campaign against sexual harassment and assault that gathered steam in the U.S. in 2017.

Since then it’s spread around the world and brought sweeping change especially in Mexico. One case has sparked a huge public and private debate. It involves a musician who took his own life after being falsely accused of pedophilia.

Correspondent Lara Rodriguez takes a look at the country’s “Me Too” movement.

On International Women’s Day in 20-19 thousands took part in marches led by feminist groups in Mexico City. They protested against sexual violence and demanded equality for women.
