Automakers shift strategies amid global sales slowdown

It’s a tough time for the U.S. auto industry. Car sales were down every month for the first six months of 2019 compared to the same months in 2018.

They were up in July and saw a big jump in August – up 7% compared to a year ago. But that may have more to do with the calendar, since those numbers include sales from Labor Day weekend, which usually falls in September.

As CGTN’s Giles Gibson reports, the U.S. results are part of a global downturn for the auto industry.
