The Heat: China-Germany ties

The Heat

This is the twelfth time Angela Merkel has visited China, and this time she’s traveling with a large business delegation.

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang officially welcomed the German Chancellor at The Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

After the welcome ceremony, the two leaders discussed a number of issues including bilateral trade and the global impact of the U.S-China trade war.

Merkel then met with Chinese President Xi Jinping who pledged China’s continued commitment to opening up its market to foreign businesses.  China has been Germany’s largest trading partner since 2016.
