The Heat: China’s State Councilor and Foreign Minister addresses UNGA

The Heat

Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi addressed the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Friday.

He warned that tariffs and trade disputes could plunge the world into a recession. He also said Beijing was committed to resolving these issues in a quote “calm, rational and cooperative manner.”

And that China wants to be part of a global economy.

Wang Yi’s speech was quite different from the one given by U.S. President Trump who rejected globalism and expressed support for nationalism and patriotism.
