Reform of the United Nations Security Council is discussed every year at the General Assembly.

During his speech, Sierra Leone President Julius Maada Bio called for a permanent seat for Africa. While in New York, CGTN’s Anand Naidoo had the chance to ask President Bio about his message and top priorities.

With climate change front and center at this year’s U.N. General Assembly, Antigua and Barbuda joined 14-other countries in a pledge to zero-out carbon emissions by 2050. CGTN’s Anand Naidoo spoke with Prime Minister Gaston Browne about climate change and how his island nation is recovering two years after a devastating hurricane.

This year U.N.-Secretary-General Antonio Guterres hosted a climate change summit and young people challenged leaders to take action. State Representative David Michel, from the U.S. state of Connecticut, is working to protect his coastal community.
