A conversation with former Mexican ambassador Arturo Sarukhan on the US-Mexico border wall

Americas Now

In the United States, the Trump administration has built or replaced some 180 kilometers of barriers along its southern border with Mexico.

Overall, there are more than 760 kilometers of wall and fencing already in place between the two countries.

Is the wall being used to push a political agenda? That’s one of the questions “Americas Now” anchor Elaine Reyes asked former Mexican ambassador to the U.S. Arturo Sarukhan.

In addition to being the Mexican ambassador from 2007-2013, Sarukhan is a senior fellow at the Brookings Institute in Washington, DC and an international strategic consultant.
