Inside a hangar at NASA’s Ames Research Center, the Breakthrough Prize is the only event where Hollywood stars grace the red carpet to celebrate scientific achievement.

Perhaps, there was nothing sexier in science this year than capturing the first image of a supermassive black hole. Winning the Breakthrough Prize in fundamental physics-a team of 347 scientists at 60 institutions in 20 countries, including China.
