After more than a year of negotiations between the United States and China – U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese Vice Premier Liu He signed a partial “Phase One” trade deal at the White House, in Washington, DC.

But what does Phase One actually accomplish? And what work remains to be done to resolve a near two-year trade war between the two biggest economies in the world?

To break down what Phase One does – and doesn’t accomplish, we were joined by James P. Moore, Jr., CEO and Founder of the Washington Institute for Business, Government and Society. He also served as Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Trade Development under the Reagan administration.
