The situation in the United States is growing worse by the hour, with nearly 100,000 coronavirus cases. On Friday, US President Trump invoked the Defense Production act to make auto companies manufacture ventilators and signed a two-trillion stimulus bill to bring much needed relief to American workers.

Italy reported 914 deaths in one day, the largest-single day toll reported by any country. And British Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced he has tested positive for COVID-19.

There is also great concern in India, where 1.3 billion people are now in lock-down for three weeks to stop the spread of the coronavirus. We spoke with Dr. Shashi Tharoor, a member of parliament for the Indian National Congress who also served at the United Nations as Under-Secretary General for Communications.

We were also joined by:

  • Dr. Carlos Del Rio is a professor and Chair of the Hubert Department of Global Health at Emory University.
  • Anthony Chan is the former Chief Economist with JPMorgan Chase and company.
  • Nathan King is CGTN’s White House correspondent.
