Over the weekend, members of the U.S. coronavirus task force warned Americans they should brace for dark days ahead.

With cases in the U.S. nearing 350,000 – and climbing exponentially – health experts predict the peak of this outbreak is still weeks in the future.

Hospitals have been flooded with those seeking treatment for the virus that has already killed over 10,000 in the country.

Today, we’re talking to one of the many who ended up in intensive care after contracting COVID-19. We’ll hear about it’s physical toll, the journey seeking treatment, fears set upon loved ones – and the much needed community support on the road to recovery.

With us to talk about his experience as a COVID-19 patient is Andrew Smith. He’s a professor of practice in the A.Q. Miller School of Journalism at Kansas State University. He joins us via Skype from his home in Manhattan, Kansas.
