Millions of Christians around the world observed Good Friday without the usual church services as the global pandemic continues to take its toll.

But on this Easter weekend, there are some indications that protocols put in place to fight the virus may be having an impact.

In China, life is beginning to return to Wuhan, where the outbreak first took hold. The city reopened following 76 days of almost complete lockdown. And in New York, where more than 7800 people have died from COVID-19, the number of virus patients in intensive care has now dropped for the first time since the outbreak began.

In Washington DC, U.S. President Donald Trump is pushing to reopen much of the country next month, raising concerns among health experts and economists of a possible COVID-19 resurgence.
