Demand of mental health services surge amid pandemic

“Mental Health Month” was started in 1949 to raise awareness of the importance of mental health and wellness in the lives of Americans and to celebrate recovery from mental illness. 

Every year, several events are organized across the country to start conversations about issues surrounding mental health. 

Especially now, with the pandemic lockdown and many hit by the economic downturn, experts suggest a growing number of people are experiencing anxiety and stress. 

Los Angeles County’s Department of Mental Health is the largest in the country, and among many that are now offering new services for the public.
