The United States threatens Iran with military force to stop the Islamic Republic from acquiring nuclear weapons.

US envoy for Iran Brian Hook made the comments while on a visit to the Middle East aimed at winning support from US allies to extend a 13 year United Nations arms embargo against Iran.

Saudi Arabia and Israel are behind the American effort, while there’s significant resistance from other nations.

Earlier in the week, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo made the case for an extension to the UN Security Council where he received a frosty reception.

China and Russia, both veto-wielding members, say they’re against reimposing the arms embargo on Iran.
