China ordered the United States to shut down its consulate in the southwestern city of Chengdu, in response to the US closing China’s diplomatic mission in Houston, Texas.
China’s Foreign Ministry says the US violated international law, but urged diplomacy. Relations between the two countries have been deteriorating for months over trade issues and the coronavirus pandemic.
