Kamala Harris: From state attorney general to vice presidential nominee

World Today

Democratic Presidential Candidate Joe Biden announced on Tuesday his campaign had picked Kamala Harris as his running mate.

Having earned a reputation as a “whip-smart” member of some of Senate’s highest-profile committees, Harris stood out in the Democratic Party debates with fierce performances – at one point, stunning her rival, now running mate Joe Biden – with an attack on his Senate record.

After dropping out of the race, Harris became an equally fierce Biden supporter. If elected, she will become the first woman and first Black vice president in U.S. history.
