The selection of Senator Kamala Harris to be the vice presidential candidate for the Democratic Party in the U.S. November elections has the potential to energize women and Black voters.

Both are key constituencies in the party, they have often been overlooked for high office and mobilizing the Black and female vote will be key to winning.
