Democratic Vice-Presidential Nominee Kamala Harris is a historic candidate- the first South Asian and first African American woman on a major party ticket.

She credits her time in college with setting the stage for her future success.

She attended Howard University in Washington D.C.

It’s part of a national network of about 100 Historically Black Colleges and Universities – HBCUs. There she was a member of the predominantly African American Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority.
