The United States is facing an alarming surge in coronavirus cases, with hospitalizations nearing 100-thousand people.

It continues to lead the world with the highest number of COVID-19 cases. To date, more than 13.5 million people have been infected with the virus in the U.S. and nearly 270,000 have died. 

Advisers for the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention met Tuesday to decide who will be the first in line to receive a COVID-19 vaccine.
