Brazil approves emergency use of two vaccines

On Sunday, Brazil approved two vaccines for emergency use in the fight against the coronavirus.

The country’s health regulator, Anvisa, authorized China’s CoronaVac and the UK’s Oxford-AstraZeneca for immediate use.

With a death toll of more than 209,000, Brazil is second only to the United States in pandemic mortality.

Latin America’s largest and most populous nation will manufacture both vaccines and is planning a nationwide rollout in the coming days.
