The actual U.S. Senate trial may be a few weeks away, but the formal proceedings kicked off Monday night, when the article of impeachment against former President Donald Trump was delivered to the Senate.
Former U.S. President Donald Trump is being charged with inciting insurrection, for his alleged role in instigating a mob of supporters to storm the U.S. Capitol, three weeks ago.
Senators were sworn in on Tuesday, where they will serve as judge, jury and victim in what promises to be an unprecedented event.
CGTN’s Owen Fairclough explains what we can expect from the proceedings.
