The Heat: Trump’s second impeachment trial preview

The Heat

Donald Trump’s unprecedented second impeachment trial kicks off Tuesday in the U.S. Senate.

He’s the first American president to be impeached twice. It’s also the first time an impeachment trial is being held against a former president. Democrats and Republicans are expected to spar over the constitutionality of the trial and whether Trump’s words provoked a mob of supporters to charge the U.S. Capitol.

Most projections are that Trump will be acquitted a second time, with few Republicans signaling a willingness to vote to convict the former president.
