A new wave of the COVID-19 is slamming Brazil and the country’s tourist mecca, Rio de Janeiro, with a record surge in cases and fatalities. 

But amid the grim news, one of the city’s hillside favelas has leveraged the pandemic into an ecotourism success story that is benefiting both residents and visitors.
