Parents sue Los Angeles Unified, push for full reopening of schools

It’s been more than a year, but the nation’s second-largest school system is ramping up to welcome back nearly half a million students in kindergarten through 12th-grade next week.

Los Angeles Unified School District will use a gradual reopening model for middle and high school students, who will only partially return to campuses, mainly for socialization, but continue with the core of their education online.

It’s part a deal struck with the district’s teachers union after months-long negotiations. But many parents are outraged at the decision and some are taking the case to court.
