U.S. truck drivers left industry during COVID-19 pandemic

The price of fuel in the United States has risen significantly in recent weeks, and it could rise further. It comes amid an ongoing shortage of truck drivers across the nation.

Part of the reason is that older drivers decided to retire during the COVID-19 pandemic while many truck driving schools were closed.

Adding to that is a nationwide increase in online shopping and the need for additional drivers.
